How to report a bug to Webflow

Updated
September 14, 2016

We get that running into bugs is frustrating and taking time away from your work to report it may not be the most exciting thing to do — especially when you’re in your flow.

But, with some patience and a few screenshots, you can help us track down and fix issues quickly benefitting the entire community. (Plus, we reward bug reporters!)

Step 1. Test your environment

The first thing to do when troubleshooting your site is to check the vitals: internet connection/speed, browser updates, faulty extensions, embedded scripts, etc.

Step 2. Test your settings

If your environment checks out, do a quick scan on the most common areas of concern in your site’s settings: unused styles, pseudo classes, interactions, etc.

  • Unused styles sometimes cause performance and inheritance issues. Try clearing your unused styles and see if that resolves the problem. How to remove/clear unused styles
  • Pseudo classes hover, pressed, and focused pseudo classes can cause unwanted behavior when interacting with elements. Try removing any pseudo classes on troublesome elements. How to change the Hover, Pressed, and Focused pseudo class selector’s styles
  • Interactions can change an element’s display setting. Without careful attention to your settings, this can cause a lot of confusion. Save a backup of your site and temporarily remove your interactions – if that resolves the issue, you can narrow down which interaction is causing the trouble. How to save a backup of your Webflow site

Step 3. Send us a bug report (SSS)

If the above tests do not resolve the problem, email us immediately with the following info:

Example: Bad Bug Report

“Hey guys, I was trying to add some text to my website but it isn’t working. I think it might be a bug.”

Example: Good Bug Report (SSS)

When typing some text in my paragraph element, the text would appear on the screen, but erase as soon as I clicked out of the element.
